A new limited edition gin creation has launched in Australia this week, just in time for the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix this weekend.

Omena Gin is a unique collaboration featuring OATH Gin, created by Finnish Formula 1 driver for the Alfa Romeo team, Valtteri Bottas, and his partner, Australian Olympic Cyclist Tiffany Cromwell. They came together with South Australian producer, Ambleside Distillers, to craft a gin “inspired by similar paths, values, family, Finnish ‘sisu’ and good ol’ Aussie ‘having a crack’.”

The limited-edition collaboration fuses two core recipes from OATH Gin (distilled and produced in Finland by Asko Ryynänen at Nordic Premium Beverages), and Ambleside Distillers Small Acre Gin. Featured botanicals include oats from OATH’s recipe and apple from Ambleside’s recipe, combining for a smooth spirit with a soft mouthfeel.

The brand describes the tasting and servings notes as: “Sweet cherry notes and crisp apple gives this gin a floral, fruity lift, finished with a warm cinnamon-like spice. Best served with a floral tonic, fresh apple, a cinnamon quill and lots of ice.”

Ambleside Distillers with Bottas and Cromwell

In line with the launch and the Australian Grand Prix, OATH Gin and Ambleside Distillers is hosting a range of experiences in Melbourne. The festivities kicked off earlier this week with exclusive dinners that showcased the new spirit, and will continue throughout race weekend with a pop up bar each night at ST. Ali Coffee Roasters, as well as a special OATH Lounge at the track itself.

Across all events, guests have the chance to meet Bottas, who is a former winner of the Australian Grand Prix taking out the top spot at the race in 2019. There will also be the chance to purchase bottles of the limited edition collaboration, with just 1477 bottles produced, all individually numbered and signed by the world renowned co-founder athletes.
