Celebrated Sydney live music venue, Annandale Hotel, has been acquired by a joint venture led by Oscars Hotels, which plans to continue the pub's live music legacy.

Oscars together with undisclosed parties reportedly purchased the Annandale from receivers Ferrier Hodgson for the price of $2.05 million.

A press release from Oscars Hotels on Friday confirmed the company's intention to continue with live entertainment, but with plans to refurbish and build "a strong regular trade through providing a great food, beverage and entertainment offer".

Since the pub’s foreclosure the mayor of Leichhardt, Cr Darcy Byrne, proclaimed his intention to re-invigorate the stretch of Parramatta Rd encompassing the Annandale as a hub for live music.

Byrne told Fairfax he "look[s] forward to catching up with the new owners over a beer to explain the enormous incentives that will soon be available for live music licensees on Parramatta Road".

Oscars Hotels operates ten venues in NSW, including the nearby Camperdown Hotel. The company was unavailable for comment.
