The Palace Leisure Group will add another property to its portfolio with the opening of a gastro-pub in Kings Cross today (March 6).

Billed as the Australian equivalent to the European gastro-pub, The Elk aims to appeal to a broad range of people, providing a casual mix of drinking and dining.

“[It will provide] an extension of the lounge-room experience,” said Palace spokesperson, Simon Shaw. “It will provide patrons with a variety of options, from the comfortable business lunch or evening meal, through to casual drinks, or more celebratory parties into the wee hours.”

“This is all part of making The Elk appealing to a broad range of the Kings Cross community,” he said.

The opening of The Elk comes at a time when Kings Cross has been enjoying a period of gentrification. Recent openings along Darlinghurst Road include Goldfish, The Sugar Mill and Kit and Kaboodle.

The Palace Leisure Group owns six venues in NSW, including the Empire Hotel and Plantation Bar in Kings Cross.
