Liquor wholesaler Paramount Liquor has today confirmed that it is forming a joint venture with Local Liquor in Victoria.

Speaking to TheShout, Paramount Liquor's managing director, Mark Rowe said: "We are expanding with Local Liquor and supplying into the Victorian market.

"We are in this for the long haul, but we are definitely taking baby steps at first. Victoria has no-one else but ALM at the moment, so we are giving people an option."

Paramount services 350 bottle shops already through its trading arm and the hopes are that the joint venture with Local Liquor will help expansion into other states.

Mr Rowe told TheShout that Paramount "already has the infrastructure in place" for the deal and so was not expecting any significant changes within the company.

With this deal now in place and with eyes on nationwide expansion, Mr Rowe admitted that it is an exciting time for Paramount.

"There's lots for us to go get involved with and lots for us to do," he added.

In January Paramount Liquor opened a state-of-the-art warehouse, which it hoped would help with its expansion into the off-premise sector.
