Advertisers have agreed to pull a controversial Brazilian beer commercial featuring Paris Hilton after consumer complaints and a watchdog agency’s investigation.

The television and Internet campaign have sparked controversy despite the socialite remaining fully clothed throughout the ad.

However authorities received several complaints about the sensual nature of the commercial which features Hilton in a short black dress rubbing a can of Devassa beer on herself – to the delight of onlookers watching from other apartments and the street below.

Yesterday (Mar 2) a spokesperson for Devassa brewer Grupto Schincariol announced the commercial would be pulled temporarily but defended the campaign.

A statement from Schincariol said: “The Company believes that the advertisement starring the model Paris Hilton doesn’t offend in any sense, any rule or orientation."

The one-minute spot, which has been viewed by TheShout, marked the launch of a new campaign for Devassa Bem Loura (Portuguese for ‘Very Blonde’) beer, timed to coincide with last month’s Mardis Gras Carnival.
