Peter Lehmann Wines has taken out the Australian Wine Producer of the Year award at the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC), announced on Tuesday (November 18).

It is the third time Peter Lehmann Wines has won the trophy, also triumphing in 2003 and 2006. Peter Lehmann Wines won the trophy for Best Riesling Worldwide with its 2002 Reserve Riesling, two gold medals for the 2002 Stonewell Shiraz and 2006 Futures Shiraz, three silver medals and three bronze medals.

Peter Lehmann chief winemaker, Andrew Wigan, said the team was over the moon with the result, which builds on previous success.

“This award reinforces the Barossa, our growers and Peter Lehmann Wines as a force to be reckoned with on the world wine stage,” he said.

“To win the International Riesling Trophy for the sixth time as well as two gold medals for Stonewell Shiraz and Futures Shiraz, highlights not only the quality but also the versatility of this spectacular winemaking district.”
