By James Wells at ProWein in Dusseldorf

Peter Lehmann Wines is “seeing the light at the end of the tunnel” in Europe despite significant pressure from the strong Australian dollar and a general trend away from premium New World and Australian wine in recent years as revealed in this video exclusive to TheShout.com.au.

According to Hans Astrom, president of the Hess Family Distribution and European distributors of Peter Lehmann Wines, ProWein has been a success for the South Australian winery with strong interest from Eastern Europe and Scandinavia.

Like other exhibitors at ProWein 2010, Astrom is keen for more Australian producers to join the list of exhibitors in 2011.

It has also been announced that Phil Lehmann has resigned from his position as winemaker for Peter Lehmann Wines, finishing up in the role last Friday (19 March).

This follows news that Peter’s older brother, Doug Lehmann, will be retiring from his position as managing director at the end of the financial year.

Doug will continue to be involved through the company board, as a non-executive director and deputy chairman from July 1, while Phil plans to undertake a masters degree at the University of Adelaide.
