The Port Lincoln Hotel was last week recognised as the South Australian Hotel of the Year for 2008.

The hotel, which reopened in December after being destroyed by fire in 2000, received one of the industry’s top accolades at the AHA South Australian 2008 Hotel Industry Awards for Excellence held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Thursday.

The $55 million, four-star property features 111 rooms and suites overlooking Boston Bay and the Port Lincoln townships. It also features conference facilities, a gaming room, bottle shop and a variety of F&B outlets.

“The Port Lincoln Hotel is an outstanding achievement that epitomises all that is good about the South Australian hotel industry,” said AHA South Australia general manager, Ian Horne.

The hotel also received two other awards on the night, including Best Mid Range Accommodation and Best Redeveloped Licensed Premises.

Also receiving multiple honours at the event were the Maid & Magpie Hotel, named Best Redeveloped Licensed Premises and Best Outdoor/Al Fresco Facility, and the Largs Pier Hotel, named Best Gaming Venue and Best Bar Presentation and Service.
