Greg Partridge, a 28-year veteran of the prisons sector, has become the new director of the Liquor and Gaming Branch of Tasmania's Department of Treasury and Finance.

The former acting director of the Tasmania Prison Service penned a note to stakeholders this week, following his appointment on October 21.

"I have served 28 years in corrections and have risen from a base grade position as a prison officer walking the floor of an accommodation block, to an executive leadership role," he said.

"Having nearly reached the big 'five zero' mark, I recently determined that for the remaining period of my working life, I wanted to have a more positive and closer working relationship with members of staff and the general public.

"The one thing that I have learnt (sometimes the hard way) in all of those years working inside South Australian, Victorian and Tasmanian prisons, is that good, clear communication skills and a capacity to provide appropriate feedback, is one of life’s essential components.

"I look forward to engaging with you and your staff and listening to your feedback on any related industry issues," Partridge said.
