A NSW hotel has raised more than $14,000 for Wyong Hospital, which has since bought two urgently required defibrillators for the surgical wards and essential equipment for cataract surgery.

Toukley’s Beachcomber Hotel on the Central Coast held its second annual Charity Ball and Auction at the beginning of the month to raise the impressive proceeds.

Licensee Andrew Biggs acknowledged the fantastic turnout on the night and recognised the generosity of the local businesses who had donated a range of charity auction items and attended the ball.

Guests were officially welcomed on the night by Wyong MP David Harris, who congratulated licensee Andrew Biggs and his staff on their efforts behind the event. The MP stressed the importance of local community events and fundraising for local charities and causes.

The money raised has already bought the two defibrilators and a phacoemulsification hand piece for cataract eye surgery.
Wyong Hospital has already almost overtaken the 575 cataract eye surgeries performed last year since the beginning of the year.

The next big event for The Beachcomber Hotel is its charity golf day on September 4.
