Fox Sports has hailed its ‘Cheers for Beers’ pub promotion as a success with publicans in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland reporting widespread interest in the sports trivia competition.

Cheers for Beers, a partnership between Fox Sports, the ALH group and VB, ran for six weeks with on air coverage for six ALH venues in the three states.

The Ettamogah, the Pioneer Tavern (both NSW); the Blackburn Hotel, Young and Jacksons (both Victoria); and Breakfast Creek Hotel and Victory Hotel (both Queensland) took part.

Giveaways included Fox Sports prize packs (backpack, bottle, cap, keyring, stubby holder), VB merchandise and Australia ODI cricket tickets courtesy of VB.

“The locals loved it and are still talking about the event a month on,” said a spokesperson for the Pioneer Tavern.

“It was great for their pub to have Damien Fleming in the pub and gain the publicity from Fox Sports. We’d definitely be open to running similar events. We have requested a show reel to play it in the pub when the cricket club come in.”

“The promotion was fantastic for our pub,” said a spokesperson for the Blackburn Hotel.

“Damien was outstanding and the locals loved meeting him and getting involved. It would have been better to have had longer to promote the event (this particular venue only had two weeks) but it was successful nonetheless. Looking forward to replaying the production for a while yet around the pub.”
