The Qantas Wine Show of Western Australia will hold its 31st Annual Awards Dinner on October 21 at the Hyatt Regency Perth.

The black-tie event will feature award-winning wines from the 2007 show and a menu showcasing the best culinary creations of the state, as well as respected local winemaker and senior judge, Vanya Cullen, as keynote speaker.

The event is the only wine show to judge exclusively West Australian wines and will see the state’s best wineries and winemakers come together for a celebration of the wine industry. It has long been recognised as an important opportunity to identify the emerging wineries and wine regions within the state.

Trophy winner for 17 categories will be announced on the night, selected from the more than 1200 wines entered annually.

Internationally renowned wine journalist James Halliday will be chief judge for the 2008 event, with the show marking one of his final appearances as a judge, having recently announced his retirement from wine judging.

Tickets for the 2008 Awards Dinner, to be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Perth, are $175 per person and available for purchase from the Wine Show’s website.
