The Hospitality Training Association Inc (HTA) has launched he Industry Scholarship Program 2009, providing more than $360,000 worth of sponsorship for the next generation of hospitality staff.

Since 2003, the program has provided more than $1.6 million in scholarship funding for students to complete a Diploma of Hospitality Management. Valued at $18,000, each scholarship includes tuition fees, textbooks and uniforms.

“This has undoubtedly had a significant impact not only on the lives of the young people who have been given the opportunity to gain a head start toward a career in hospitality but the hospitality and tourism industry who benefit from qualified, skilled, experienced and motivated staff,” said HTA president James Visser.

HTA is Queensland’s leading training, employment and recruitment organisation for the hospitality and tourism industry. The program is being offered in conjunction with Clubs Queensland; Hotel, Motel and Accommodation Association; Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Union; Queensland Hotels Association; and the RCQ.
