Ray Group CEO, Tom Ray, has announced the appointment of Matt Newberry to the role of Chief Operations Officer (COO) of the group.

The appointment will see Newberry oversee day-to-day operational control of the Ray Group of companies as it begins sourcing new acquisitions for its Retail Property Trust.

Newberry joined Ray Group as head of operations for the Rays Asset Management Group in July last year and he was responsible for managing the retail expansion of the company’s flagship $1b coastal development Salt Village.

He joined the company after seven years as an executive with Coles/Wesfarmers Group responsible for the business growth of the retailers national hotel portfolio comprising 97 Hotels and over 300 related retail liquor stores.

Prior to this Newberry was involved in managing a large variety of hospitality businesses including Ayers Rock Resort, Conrad Jupiters and other luxury clubs and resorts.

“Matt is well respected industry leader who has brought to Ray Group a wealth of experience that has been instrumental in restructuring our business entities whilst maximising the value of our existing commercial assets,” said Ray.

“We now have the senior leadership team structure complete to embark on our exciting plans for expansion and growth.”
