Mandatory training in responsible service of alcohol (RSA) will be enforced in Queensland for those employed in the service and supply of alcohol after January 1, 2009.

Staff employed in the service of alcohol in Queensland from January have 30 days to gain an RSA certificate, while those employed prior to January 1 have until June 30, 2010, to complete the training.

A review of the Queensland Liquor Act 1992 led to the Liquor and Other Acts Amendment Bill being passed in Parliament on September 10.

The aim of the Bill is to enhance the role of harm minimisation, increase administrative efficiency, and clarify existing provisions.
