Following the success of the Melbourne Rum Club, a South Australian branch is set to open in Adelaide today (Feb 2).

Hosted by cocktail bar Cushdy, the monthly event will encourage hospitality employees and members of the public to come along and share their passion for rum.

The Melbourne Rum Club has been running at Golden Monkey for the past year.  The concept is based on the original Rum Club from Notting Hill, London, where members each pay $20 and receive a keyring and membership card with a list of all of the rums available to try. Once they have sampled all 35 of the house rums, they gain access to the exclusive ‘Tiki God’ selection of premium and hard-to-come-by rums.

The first meeting of the Adelaide Rum Club will be hosted by James France of Vanguard Luxury Brands, who will be speaking about Flor de Cana rum.

France said he was pleased to see the birth of another chapter of the Rum Club.

“The Adelaide bar scene has really gone ahead in leaps and bounds in recent times and I’m honoured to have been invited to mark the birth of the Adelaide Rum Club,” he said.
