The search for Australia’s best wine lists starts tomorrow when entries open for the 2012 Wine List of the Year Awards.

Presented by Gourmet Traveller WINE magazine and Fine Wine Partners, the awards seek out the best wine lists across Australia in a range of categories and venues from the city to the country, leading restaurants, gastro-pubs and wine bars.

This year will feature a new award, the ‘Best Representation of Australian Wine’ sponsored by A+ Australian Wine, an initiative of Wine Australia.

Fine Wine Partners chairman, Rob Hirst, said the awards encourage Australians to visit venues around the country, in a boost to both the wine industry and local tourism.

“Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards gives consumers a ‘roadmap’ to the best lists in fine dining, brasseries, cafes, international hotels, wine bars, pubs and clubs,” Hirst said.

“The accolades also acknowledge and reward the skill, hard work and financial investment required to create quality wine lists.”

The winners of the 2012 Wine List of the Year Awards will be published in the August/September edition of Gourmet Traveller WINE.

Entries open tomorrow (Tues 14 Feb) and will close on Friday 16 March.
