Seppelt has launching a new range of sparkling wines which pay tribute to Charles Pierlot, the champenoise winemaker who pioneered Australian méthode traditionnelle sparkling wine production at Seppelt.
Pierlot by Seppelt features a Brut Cuvée and a Brut Rosé, which have been crafted by the Seppelt winemaking team, led by Clare Dry.
“We’re proud to release Pierlot by Seppelt, a series of wines which honour our past and help celebrate the future,” says Dry. “These wines are an elegant tribute to our sparkling roots and pair perfectly with food, friends and celebration.
“It’s pleasing to craft two leading wine styles emblazoned with Charles Pierlot’s name – a gentleman who was instrumental in establishing Seppelt’s reputation for crafting quality méthode traditionnelle wines.”
Consisting of classic sparkling varietals; pinot noir, chardonnay and pinot meunier, the new releases feature fruit from the cool-climate region of Henty in Victoria.
Dry added: “The majority of grapes for this range are sourced from our Drumborg Vineyard – a special site first planted in 1964, with the primary aim to produce world-class sparkling wines.”
Both varietals are described as “elegant and delicate”, with tasting tasting notes for the Brut Cuvée describing “lemon curd, crisp green apple and freshly baked brioche notes”, while the Brut Rosé demonstrates “delicate strawberry and crisp red apple notes with creamy lees texture”.
To celebrate the release, racegoers at this year’s Melbourne Cup Carnival will be amongst the first to enjoy the wines, with Pierlot by Seppelt available at all Victoria Racing Club bars and restaurants. A Pierlot by Seppelt bar will also appear in The Park precinct at Flemington Racecourse from 29 October – 5 November.
The Pierlot by Seppelt wines are available now at $30 RRP.
