Southern Independent Liquor (SIL) has extended its reach into South Australia, becoming the wide-range liquor wholesaler for one of the state's largest independent liquor retailers – Parafield Airport Liquor Store (PALS).

SIL managing director David Stephenson said he is pleased that the Victoria-based group is expanding into another major Australian market.

"SIL is pushing to increase competition in South Australia which has ultimately been dominated by a single wholesaler since the takeover of Hotel Liquor Wholesalers (HLW) by Metcash / Australian Liquor Marketers (ALM)," he said.

"We believe that SIL's entrance into South Australia is not only good for our business but also for local independent retailers who now have a greater choice for their  wide-range wholesale liquor supply."

"It's especially pleasing to have PALS Liquor on board as they are one of the largest independent family-owned liquor businesses in South Australia with over 5000 products in store."

Stephenson said SIL's South Australian orders will be transported with a seamless 24-hour turnaround from the wholesaler's Victorian warehouse.

"We are able to provide the same efficient level of service for our South Australian customers as we do for our Victorian retailers," he said.

"We welcome enquiries from other South Australian liquor retailers who may be interested in ordering from SIL."
