Drinkers and diners at two of Australia’s leading pub groups have helped to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Solotel Group pledged a dollar from the sale of every CUB schooner or pint sold at its venues between March 14 and April 10.
Meanwhile, Australian Venue Co. (AVC) launched a similar campaign, titled ‘Beers for Mates’, with $1 from every schooner and $2 from every pint of selected Furphys and XXXX beers at each of its 180 venues around the country.
Solotel’s campaign raised a total of $155,567.99 for the Australian Red Cross’ Flood appeal. Alongside the CUB donations from 25 different beers and ciders, Solotel also contributed the full menu price of certain dishes at its four restaurants.
AVC’s ‘Beers for Mates’ concluded on March 31, and raised more than $160,000 for the Red Cross’s NSW and Queensland flood appeals.
Elliot Solomon, Solotel’s CEO expressed his delight at the success of the group’s campaign.
“While the devastating weather may have subsided, the road to recovery for the communities affected by these floods is long,” Solomon said.
“Solotel Group is proud to be able to contribute to the flood relief efforts and we look forward to seeing these affected communities flourish.”
The money will be used by the Red Cross to support people and communities affected by the flooding in Queensland and New South Wales.
