Solotel has divested Little Big House in Brisbane, with the venue having been closed since the national lockdown in March 2020.

The leasehold of the Queenslander party-pub venue has been sold to a locally-based hospitality group dubbed the Little Big House Project. The sale was negotiated on behalf of Solotel by CBRE Hotels’ Paul Fraser.

Little Big House Project is led by managing director Brett Fitzpatrick, the previous owner of Fitz+Potts in Nundah.

“We are now focused on reopening Little Big House and providing a great place for the community to eat, drink and socialise,” stated Fitzpatrick.

“We want to give back to the community, its local producers and brewers and showcase a warm welcoming place that offers good, old-fashioned value for money.”

The pub is located in South Bank’s Southpoint precinct, neighbouring the South Bank Train Station and the new corporate head offices of Virgin and Flight Centre. Under Solotel’s guidance the venue has been hugely popular with 18-30 year-olds, but Little Big House Project already has plans underway for the redirection of the venue.

“We’ve worked closely with the project management team at Winchester Group to ensure we’re delivering an exceptional food and beverage offering to rival some of Brisbane best pubs. With the ability to employ 45 staff from the local community and cater to 500-plus people via function spaces, a café, private dining room and beer garden, this is going to be a great venue to socialise with friends, colleagues and family,” stated Fitzpatrick.

Solotel CEO Elliot Solomon congratulated Fitzpatrick and his team on the acquisition.

“It’s a great venue and we wish the new owners all the best and look forward to seeing what comes next for Little Big House.”

Fraser added: “The sale demonstrates the robust nature of the hospitality industry and the ongoing demand for high profile pubs in key South East Queensland locations, even during challenging periods.”

Little Big House Project reopened the venue late last week. While the hotel has been closed since March last year, Solotel announced in early November that it would not re-open the pub, as the group began to reassess and consolidate its portfolio in the wake of the pandemic.

Riverbar & Kitchen is now the sole remaining Brisbane venue for the Sydney-based group.
