Anyone who is interested in learning more about the art of the sommelier is being encouraged to take part in Sommelier 101.

Sommeliers Australia, the national body for the profession, has launched a pilot program, which is designed to help gain a clearer understanding of the working layers that are integral to the trade.

The next session will take place on Tuesday, 16 June at Bellota in Melbourne and it will cover the 'Art of Service'.

The session will look at what constitutes great service and what it takes to maintain high service standards across all aspects of a hospitality business.

The Art of Service panel includes:

  • Simon Denton, Kappa, Hihou, Izakaya Den
  • Jean Paul Prunetti, France Soir
  • Vanessa Crichton, Rockpool Bar & Grill
  • Isa Bal, Fat Duck
  • Liam O'Brien, Cutler & Co.
  • Tom Hogan, Harry & Frankies
  • Patrick Walsh, CellarHand

This is a free event, but bookings are essential, as places are limited.
