Southern Comfort bourbon has teamed up with TheShout and bars&clubs magazine to launch the inaugural Southern Comfort Reserve Cocktail Competition.

Open to bartenders across Australia, entrants must create their own cocktail using a minimum of 30ml of Southern Comfort Reserve and no more than five ingredients, as well as answer a few simple questions about Southern Comfort Reserve online.

The winner will receive a bartender and venue feature in bars&clubs magazine and $500 worth of Brown-Forman product. There are also two runner-up prizes of $250 worth of Brown-Forman product.

“Australia is the only domestic market in the world to range the new Southern Comfort Reserve and we thought this program would be a great way to encourage bartenders to experiment with the unique taste profile and create their own original recipe,” said  Southern Comfort assistant brand manager Brie Warnock.

“After all, it was bartender MW Heron who experimented with a range of flavours and created the original Southern Comfort.”

Launched in Australia in November 2008, Southern Comfort Reserve is based on the original Southern Comfort recipe, with the addition of a six year old bourbon, which increases the whiskey and spice flavours including rye, rich oak and dark chocolate.

Entries for the competition open today (Sep 7) and close October 31. To enter, click here.
