Leading spirits importer, Southtrade International, has announced they have acquired the Australian distribution rights to the premium bourbon, Buffalo Trace.

The bourbon, which is owned by The Sazerac Company Inc, is distilled and aged at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Franklin County, Kentucky.

Named after the early migration route of the buffalo that carved out a pathway for the early American pioneers, Buffalo Trace has won more than 20 medals from notable international spirits competitions, including a gold medal at the 2008 Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits Competition.

Sazerac International sales director Guy May said that he was pleased to have reached a distribution agreement with Southtrade.

“They are a well-respected sales and marketing organisation with a strong record of building brands in the Australian market," he said.

The agreement is effective immediately and stock will be available from December 1.
