The Malt Shovel Brewery has created a new can for its James Squire Golden Ale, which will be served on all Qantas flights from this month.

The brewery and airline have forged a partnership with the special 330ml can being made exclusively for Qantas, allowing a large-scale consumer trial of the ale.

Lion Nathan premium category director, Tami Cunningham, said the Qantas brand will further the brew’s success in the craft beer category.

“Golden Ale is the fastest growing brew in the James Squire range and we are confident that it will be a popular new addition to the Qantas inflight service,” Cunningham said.

To celebrate the alliance, James Squire is offering on-premise trade members the chance to win one of 10 Qantas holiday packages to Cairns worth up to $3600. Each venue’s name will be entered into a draw for the chance to win whenever they buy a keg until May 9.

An additional off-premise promotion will see a free gift for customers buying a six-pack of Golden Ale, with participating retailers receiving 24 boxed James Squire glasses per kit.
