Stan Sport is showing its first pay-per-view this Wednesday night on Stan Event as former NRL and AFL hardmen Sonny Bill Williams and Barry Hall clash in a fight labelled ‘Turf War’.

Williams puts his 8-0 undefeated boxing record on the line against Hall, with the live event action starting at 6pm. Turf War will be available for you to purchase via your Stan Sport Venues account.

Williams has prepared for the fight by training with heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, and the former All Black said: “For the first time in my professional sporting career, I am fully concentrating on boxing.

“My focus on winning this fight begins with a phenomenal opportunity to join the world’s biggest name in boxing, Tyson Fury, at his training camp in the United States immediately, to ensure I am 100 per cent prepared for this fight.”

Hall’s only previous pro-boxing bout saw him register a draw with another former NRL star, Paul Gallen, but Hall said he learned a lot from that fight and certainly talked up his chances against Williams.

Hall said: “I showed against Paul Gallen that I can go the distance and go hard. Sonny is a hugely talented individual but has not ever faced anyone of my size or skill. The lad has had everything laid on a silver platter in his boxing career to date.

“Sonny Boy has made a mistake in taking this fight, I intend to finish his boxing career and open up bigger fight opportunities for myself.”

In order to purchase the Turf War Stan Event, you will need an active Stan Sport Venues subscription, to find out more about signing up and showing Turf War in your venue this Wednesday night, head to the Stan Sport Venues website.

“The beauty of Stan Sport is venues can sign up today and be streaming tomorrow,” recently appointed Stan Sport commercial venues manager, Tim Fishwick, told The Shout.

“The great news for venues under 800-person capacity is Turf War has an introductory price of $700 + GST.”

Fishwick joins Stan Sport after an on-premise venues-focused career that has included working in commercial sales for Fox Sports as well as a number of sales roles at brewers including Little Creatures, Balter and White Bay.

“It is exciting to be on board with Stan Sport as we offer our first pay-per-view this week with Turf War. Stan Sport is doing it differently by offering commercial venues the opportunity to subscribe online and stream straight away with no wait for installation or connection fees and venues can cancel at any time delivering much-needed flexibility that’s not been seen in Australia before.”
