Mount Riley Wines from Marlborough, New Zealand, have become one of the mainstays of the Australian liquor scene since first being imported by Vintage House Wine and Spirits in 1996, with 2023 marking 27 years of this solid relationship built on shared values of trust, honesty and respect, and a love of fine, fresh wines.

The Buchanan Family, founders and owners of Mount Riley, have been in the Marlborough wine region for six generations, establishing Mount Riley Wines in 1992. Being Family owned and estate grown allows Mount Riley to control all aspects of production from the vineyard through to the finished product.

The cool climate region of Marlborough enjoys a long growing season with mild to warm days and cool nights ensuring fruit retains freshness and varietal character. Well known for its Sauvignon Blanc the Mount Riley range reflects the diversity of quality vineyard sites. The Marlborough region has great potential for other aromatic white varietals such as Pinot Gris as well as the delicate Pinot Noir grape and Mount Riley carefully evaluate each wine to reflect the distinct terroir of the region.

Mount Riley’s Estate Range is great quality and value. Each wine in this range is fresh with pure, vibrant fruit flavours and aromas. The range imported includes a fresh and lively Sauvignon Blanc, fruit filled Pinot Gris and a silky, highly approachable Pinot Noir. By keeping the range imported into Australia tight allows the Vintage House team to focus on delivering great tasting wines, at a great price point backed up by exceptional service.

Mount Riley Sauvignon Blanc is a blend from multiple vineyard sites throughout Marlborough, with a portion from the Awatere Valley and the balance from the Wairau Valley. Grapes were crushed and destemmed prior to pressing and fermentation was induced by the introduction of carefully selected yeast strains. We fermented in stainless steel at cool temperatures to preserve the lifted aromatics in this wine.

The grapes for Mount Riley Pinot Gris were grown on their Estate Vineyards in the Wairau Valley of Marlborough. A long, cool autumn and modest yields made for the perfect conditions to create mouthwatering flavours in this classic Mount Riley wine.

Mount Riley Pinot Noir is a blend sourced from three of their Marlborough vineyards situated in the Southern Valleys sub-region. Diversity of clone allowed Mount Riley to make a complex and complete wine with vibrant, pure fruit character and depth of flavour. Grapes were cold soaked, fermented in small parcels and aged for nine months in French oak barriques.
