A week-long party to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Deery ownership at Brisbane’s Story Bridge Hotel kicked off on Monday (September 1).

The first keg of XXXX’s Special Brew, a limited-edition beer specially created to mark the anniversary, was cracked on Monday by hotel owner Richard Deery and Lion Nathan Queensland managing director, Bill Webb.

The festivities continue tonight with an invitation-only event for around 400 guests, with celebrations for the public from tomorrow until Sunday.

In honour of the milestone, families that have booked into the Story Bridge Hotel’s Deery’s Restaurant or Shelter Bar for Father’s Day this Sunday will see dad receive a special gift courtesy of the hotel’s team.

Built in 1886, the Story Bridge Hotel is one of the last remaining family-owned and operated hotels in Brisbane.

The iconic venue took out Best Hotel in Australia at last year’s Australian Liquor Industry Awards (ALIA) and Best Hotel Operation at the 2008 AHA National Awards for Excellence.
