The Sydney Rum Club’s celebration of all things rum, Sugarcane Sunday, has attracted some of the leading rum brands in the country and plenty of attention from the trade and consumers.

The event will be held this Sunday, March 24 at The Standard from 1pm to 6pm. It will feature over a dozen different stands showcasing over 50 rums in a setting reminiscent of a Caribbean marketplace.

"It has been truly a joy putting this together from a simple memory of hanging out in the Caribbean local markets to having all these rums in one place celebrating the sugarcane spirit on a cheeky Sunday," said Sydney Rum Club organiser Tom Bulmer.

"All the rums available on this day are delicious and it brings the rum culture and a social lifestyle wherever it goes. There is no doubt about the support we have received from the Australian rum companies for Sugarcane Sunday."

Amongst the brands exhibiting are 10 Cane, Appleton Estate, Bacardi, Barbancourt, Bielle Vieux, Ron Cubaney, Domaine de Severin, English Harbour, Flor de Caña, Germana, Gosling's, Havana Club, Inner Circle, J.M. Rhum, Matusalem, Mount Gay, Plantation and Ron Abuelo.

There will also be presentations from such as Pernod Ricard, Campari Australia, Suntory, Bacardi and Think Spirits looking at the history, culture and different taste profiles of rums.

"The rum community is one big family. For Sugarcane Sunday the most important thing has been working with rums that are part of that family and together offering the rum community in Sydney the chance to show just how big we are," said Bulmer.
