Borco, a European producer and marketer of international wine and spirit brands, has appointed Suntory Australia distributor of its Cana Rio Cachaça brand from this month (April).

Cana Rio Cachaça comes from the house of Fazenda Soledade in the state of Rio, a Brazilian family enterprise established in 1827.

The Caipirinha, Brazil’s national drink, is a refreshing combination of cachaça, fresh lime and sugar.

Cana Rio is said to be a smooth cachaça for the ultimate Caipirinha.

“The distribution capacity on- and off, combined with their marketing driven skills make Suntory the best partner to represent Cana Rio Cachaça in Australia,” said Borco CEO, Jutta Matthiesen.

Established in 1948, Borco is a privately owned German company based in Hamburg, and owners of brands such as Sierra Tequila and Finsbury Gin.

“We are delighted to strengthen our relationship with Borco and welcome Cana Rio to the Suntory portfolio expanding our presence into the growing cachaça category,” said Ian Atherton, managing director of Suntory Australia.

“With our strong track record of on premise brand building, we look forward to integrating the brand into our business.”
