Suntory Australia has announced they will become the new Australian distributors of Hendrick’s gin.

From January 1, 2009, Hendrick’s will leave current distributors McWilliam’s Wines, which has held the distribution rights since 2007.

Owned by independent distiller William Grant & Sons Ltd, Hendrick’s will join the rest of Suntory’s portfolio, including Glenfiddich whisky, The Balvenie single malts and Grant’s scotch.

William Grant & Sons business development manager Brian Sharp said their partnership with McWilliam’s had produced great results for Hendrick’s. “(B)ut as the brand has grown to become a serious contender in the Australian gin market, the time has come to move Hendrick’s gin to join our portfolio of established spirits brands.“

Distilled in Ayrshire, Scotland, Hendrick’s is a small batch gin with a unique taste derived from the use of Bulgarian Rose extract and cucumber mash.
