Suntory (Australia) will become the distributor of Remy Cointreau in the Australian domestic market, effective April 1.

It follows Remy Cointreau announcing that it will exit Maxxium from March 31 next year.

Remy Cointreau’s portfolio includes Remy Martin and Louis XIII cognacs, Piper-Heidsieck and Charles Heidsieck Champagnes, Cointreau and Passoa liqueurs, Mount Gay Rum and St Remy French Brandy.

Remy Cointreau managing director for North East Asia and Pacific, Mungo Gilchrist, said Suntory has an impressive record of building brands on-premise.

“We are very confident that, with these strong credentials and a highly complementary brand portfolio, Suntory is the ideal partner to build on the successful development of our brands in the dynamic Australian market,” he said.

“We would also like to thank Maxxium Australia for their commitment to our business over the past nine years, and their sub-distributor Coca-Cola Amatil for their efforts since April 2007.”
