Suntory Australia has been appointed as the local distributor of Disaronno by the brand’s Italian owners, Illva Saronna – a global producer of spirits and liqueurs.

The deal took effect earlier this week (Monday Feb 21).

Disaronno Originale is an amber liqueur with a characteristic bittersweet almond taste (although it does not contain nuts), which began life as Amaretto di Saronno Originale (original Amaretto from Saronno).

It was later changed to Amaretto Disaronno and then to Disaronno Originale.

Managing director of Suntory Australia Ian Atherton said he was thrilled with the new agreement between Suntory and Illva Saronna.

“We are delighted to welcome Disaronno to the Suntory portfolio,” he said.

“With our strong and established portfolio of liqueurs, we look forward to integrating Disaronno into our business.”

The liqueur is available in more than 160 countries, including the US and UK where it sells a combined volume of over half a million 9L cases per year.
