Sydney bar, The Wild Rover, is launching its own whiskey club which will give members their own whiskey passport as well access to rewards, tastings and events.

The club hosts free monthly tastings, quarterly whiskey events as well as a whiskey book, which is equipped with enough information to give even the most novice drinker an appreciation of the bar’s favourite spirit.

“After creating the club, we wanted to offer our customers an experience they weren’t going to find anywhere else,” said Kim McDiarmid, former manager of the bar who now works across the 8 Hospitality group of venues.

“The Co-Op is a one stop shop where regulars can learn, attend one of a kind events, be rewarded for their loyalty and be part of a community of like-minded whiskey drinkers”.

The Whiskey Co-Op Passport is made up of an abundance of information about whiskey including 60 types from The Wild Rover’s back bar. Curated and designed by McDiarmid and the Wild Rover team “it doubles as a loyalty program where members receive rewards the more whiskey they try,” he added.

The bar has been running monthly whiskey tastings since February 2014, offering attendees more information and details about the 200+ whiskies that are available in the venue.

There have also been a number of collaboration events, such as the Whisky & Cheese event with Stinking Bishops and Whisky & Chocolate with Lixie Chocolate. More information on the club can be found on The Whiskey Co-Op website.
