The Sydney Royal Beer and Cider Show is gearing up for 2014, announcing a stellar line-up of judges for the two-day event in September – plus a last chance to enter.

The judging panel will be headed up by industry stalwart and head brewer at the Australian Brewery Neal Cameron (pictured), along with Ian Kingham (Woolworths Liquor), Tina Panoutsos (CUB), Shawn Sherlock (Murray’s Brewing) and Karina Dambergs (Cider Australia and Dickens Cider).

Cameron said the benchmark competition is fiercely fought and judged by “some of Australia’s most experienced judges”, and sets a measure for the industries.

“Sydney Royal always sets the highest standards with its competitions, and this year will be no different,” said Cameron.

“What makes winning a Sydney Royal medal even more special is the opportunity for producers to brand their product with a prestigious Gold, Silver or Bronze medal, which is a true mark of excellence and something beer and cider lovers can look for when making their in-store purchase.”

Taking place September 16 and 17 at Sydney Showground, the judges will taste their way through a variety of golden and dark lagers; amber, pale, dark and golden ales; stouts and porters; strong, wheat, speciality and reduced-alcohol beers; ciders and perries.

Entries close this coming Wednesday, 16 July. An awards night will be held Friday 19 September on the Sydney Showground Skydeck, which includes a matched menu.
