A $500 million revamp of Sydney International Airport’s retail precinct has been completed, with the brand new SYD Duty Free store housing one of Australia’s most extensive offerings of alcohol.

More than 200 wines from Australia and a handful from New Zealand are ranged within the store, from larger wine companies through to smaller, boutique producers.

Local master of wine, Philip Reedman, was instrumental in the selection of the wine within the store and has written detailed tasting notes for each wine within the World of Wine section.

“Supporting local wine regions is the key focus and the differentiation in this space is that it is not about price, it’s about finding vintages that you simply can’t locate elsewhere, particularly in the Aged and Rare section,” said Reedman.

Whisky-lovers are also well catered for within the World Of Malt Whisky area, which categorises whisky by taste style and flavour, instead of region or origin.

The new SYD Duty Free store is now the largest in the southern hemisphere.
