After enduring weeks of media speculation and negative press, Sydney entertainment venue The Star will have reasons to celebrate when it unveils its long anticipated nightclub, Marquee, this Friday.

The official VIP launch party will include DJ sets from The Black Eye Peas’ will.i.am and Afrojack, with celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Ashlee Simpson, Nick Lachey, Kellan Lutz and Abbie Cornish set to attend.

The 20,000 square foot nightclub occupies the entire top tier of The Star’s new Pirrama Rd harbour side entrance. It has a 1,200 people capacity and houses three distinct spaces within the one venue.

The Main Room features a 30-foot projection stage with an LED DJ booth and two dancefloors, while another section called Boom Box has an outdoor patio and DJ booth. For guests who want a bit more intimacy, there is a library-style lounge room complete with fireplace.

The new venue is a joint effort between The Star and Tao Group, which operates nightclubs in the US including LAVO in New York and Las Vegas, TAO Las Vegas and Marquee Nightclub and Dayclub at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.

  1. I heard Paris was going up to the Gold Coast for a week to meet up with old pals before heading off to Myanmar for the Thingyan Water Festival.
