A who’s who of Sydney’s wine personalities gathered at The Westin Sydney on Friday for the Wine Communicators of Australia’s (WCA) annual Macquarie Group Sydney Royal Wine Show Trophy Winner’s lunch.

The afternoon also included the announcement of the highly regarded Wine Communicator of the Year award, which in an unprecedented move was awarded to two of Australia’s leading wine communicators – Peter Bourne and Paul Henry.

Bourne was presented with the honour for his excellence in wine communication on a domestic front, while Henry received his award for his work on an international scale with Wine Australia.

“These are extraordinary times and given the fundamental importance of both our domestic and international markets to the future of the Australian wine industry, it was agreed that this award should recognise contribution and impact in both markets. Therefore, the WCA Wine Communicator Award for 2010 is to be shared this year by two outstanding recipients, said WCA president, Rob Hirst.
