The Sydney bar scene just got a little more exciting with the opening of two new bars in Sydney’s inner city – Bacco Wine Bar Pasticceria in the CBD and Gotham bar in Darlinghurst.

Opening last week in the iconic Queen Victoria Building (QVB), Bacco Wine Bar Pasticceria is the second venture from the Bacco team, whose sister venue opened in the Chifley Plaza to much applause last year.

Italian-themed, the QVB branch offers Italian-style food, wine and cocktails, as well as a traditional high tea with an Italian twist – Campari cocktails. The cocktail list features a range of cocktails, from the traditional Bellini through to the house speciality, Giorgio Il Bello, which is an aperitif from Venice, made with Aperol, elderflower and pinot grigio and topped with homemade lemonade, in a glass rimmed with handcrafted orange rhubarb dust.

Meanwhile, Darlinghurst’s trendy Oxford Street will welcome New-York-inspired bar Gotham with a VIP opening tomorrow night. Billing itself as “unashamedly modern, forward looking, new and discerning”, Gotham was designed by Squillace Nicholas Architects, the team behind award-winning Manly Pavilion and Hugos Manly.  Featuring a crimson leather bar, pressed metal walls, vintage fireplaces and a black and white clock silhouette, the bar offers a range of tap and bottle beers, as well as a short cocktail and wine list.

Both bars are open seven days a week.
