Sydney's Sugarmill will play host to a night of tranny bingo on November 6 to raise money for the Luekaemia Foundation through the U.G.L.Y Bartender of the Year campaign.

Licensee, Chris Jollife told TheShout it was a cause the venue was happy to support.

"We were approached by a local and jumped at the chance to back it," Jollife said.

"We have had great support from the local businesses in terms of the prizes we will be awarding and are in the process of teeing up more events to help out."

The U.G.L.Y. Bartender of the Year campaign raises funds to help the Leukaemia Foundation offer their service to people with blood cancers, as well as their families and carers. Every $80 raised by an U.G.L.Y. bartender covers the cost of providing one night’s accommodation for people with blood cancer who had to relocate from their regional area for treatment. Last year, U.G.L.Y. bartenders provided over 17,000 free nights.

For the fifth year, Hoshizaki Lancer is the principal sponsor of the campaign.

"The competition has a major significance to Hoshizaki Lancer as in April of 2012, the company farewelled their New Zealand manager – Michael Abraham – who lost his battle with cancer," said managing direfctor, Joe Thorp.

"Hoshizaki Lancer created the inaugural Michael Abraham Memorial Trophy in his honour, which is awarded to the highest overall fundraiser of the competition who in 2012 and 2013 was Belinda Marshall from NT."

As a principal sponsor of the U.G.L.Y. competition, Hoshizaki Lancer awards each of the winner’s venues with one of the famous Hoshizaki Ice machines or Lancer Beverage Systems products and services to the value of $7,500.

Hoshizaki Lancer is thrilled to not only support the activities and fundraising of the U.G.L.Y. bartenders and their venues, but also help acknowledge the importance that communities play in supporting those affected by blood cancers.
