Taittinger has been named as the Official Champagne of the FIFA World Cup 2022, with online retailer, Emperor Champagne given exclusive retail rights in Australia.

The Shout spoke to Clovis Taittinger, Managing Director of Champagne Taittinger, to hear more about this expression and how the brand has become Champagne Supplier of FIFA.

“This is our third cycle partnership with FIFA and for Champagne Taittinger, it is a big honour and mark of trust to be affiliated with a major global tournament. Football is part of our universal culture and it brings people together,” Clovis said.

“Every bubble carries a dose of emotion.”

According to Clovis, this is non-vintage wine that was “isolated two years ago for this special occasion and has been made in the classic way.”

“The grape varieties are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier with Chardonnay being the leading varietal in Taittinger Brut Reserve FIFA World Cup 2022 and is nine grams per litre dosage,” Clovis continues.

The end result is a ‘delicately balanced wine boasting fragrant notes of peach, white flowers, brioche and vanilla bean.’

According to the producer’s tasting notes, ‘the brilliant body is golden in colour and the bubbles are fine, while the foam is discreet yet lingering making this lively, fresh and harmonious upon entry onto the palate.’

Emperor Champagne, an online retailer based out of Victoria, has been tapped to bring the Taittinger Brut Réserve FIFA World Cup 2022 Edition to market.

The Shout asked Clovis why the company had decided to work with the speciality Champagne store.

“Emperor Champagne and its founder and CEO Kyla Kirkpatrick have been great supporters of Taittinger for many years and their e-commerce and digital platforms make for a seamless consumer experience,” Clovis says.

This message is echoed by Taittinger’s Australian Brand Manager, Bree Richmond, who says: “We are delighted to once again be bringing the spirit of Champagne Taittinger to the world stage in partnership with Emperor Champagne.”

Kirkpatrick also commented on the partnership, and highlighted the dedicated facilities Emperor uses to ensure the Champagne is stored correctly.

“We have climate controlled, state of the art warehouse facilities that we own and run ourselves so there is little room for error,” Kirkpatrick outlined.

“Champagne is uber-sensitive and needs to be stored and handled in a particular manner to ensure its quality and integrity remains perfect.

“We also distribute nationwide with kid gloves so naturally we are a trusted partner. But I also have a long standing relationship with the Taittinger Family and team in France so those relationships are incredible important in being chosen as an exclusive partner for distribution.”

Taittinger Brut Réserve FIFA World Cup 2022™ Edition will be available from 17 November, and retails for $129.
