Time Out Sydney has teamed up with some of the city's leading bars to create an exciting programme of events for this year's World Cocktail Week.
A range of cocktail-focused events will run from May 6 to 20, culminating with the Time Out Shakedown cocktail competition to be held at The Standard on the final night. This year the competition will have a Great Gatsby theme.
Amongst the selection of events people can experience over the 14 days will be a tequila-tinged Sunday mass at Tio’s Cerveceria, a beer versus cocktail bartender battle at Lo-Fi and a rock n roll-themed night at Gardel’s Bar.
Also, the team at Zeta Bar will be conducting a classic versus molecular cocktail demonstration; Grandma’s Bar will be hosting the Stitch and Bitch High Tea night, while the boys from Hinky Dinks will be throwing a Sundown Tiki Party.
One highlight of the calendar of events is sure to be the Ain’t Nothin’ But a Gin Thing party that will be held at The Rook, where five gin cocktails will be matched up to five classic gin-related songs.
World Cocktail Week was created in 2006 by The Museum of the American Cocktail to promote a better understanding and appreciation of cocktails.
