Tasmania’s Lark Distillery has been recognsied at the annual Malt Maniacs Awards for its LD 31 Single Cask Single Malt Whisky, beating leading Scottish brands in its category.

The only Australian whisky to be awarded, Lark took out the Thumbs Up Award — Premium for the most exciting new release in the $100 to $300 price category.

Lark global sales manager, Ross Dinsmoor, said he was thrilled with the win, which drew entries from around the world including Japan, India, America, Ireland and Scotland.

“We’re the only Australian whisky to be awarded. We outscored over 100 Scottish and international icon single malt whiskies, including Highland Park, Balvenie 12yo DoubleWood, Talisker 10yo and Laphroaig to name but a few,” he said.

The whisky competition is free to enter, with judges blind tasting whiskies in three different price categories.
