A man used a stolen Toyota Camry to ram through a door at the Roxburgh Homestead Shopping Centre on Friday night and steal a large quantity of alcohol. The vehicle was abandoned at the scene of the crime. Police are investigating a possible link to another ram raid in which a vehicle was used to gain entry into the same store on April 13. Disgraced swimmer Nick D’Arcy appeared at Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Monday over the alleged assault of former swimmer Simon Cowly at the Loft Bar on March 29. D’Arcy, who said he will defend against the charge, had his bail extended on the condition he not contact Cowly or four fellow swimmers who witnessed the alleged assault to ensure their testimonies are not tampered with before being presented in court. Police allege D’Arcy consumed 16 standard drinks before he stuck Cowly with his elbow in an unprovoked attack. The hearing has been adjourned until June 17.

Four men were hospitalised and conveyed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital as a result of the affray, one of who will require reconstructive surgery. Police took four men into custody in relation to the incident, all of who were released shortly after. Investigations continue.
