TheShout was named Best Associated Internet Site at the 2008 Bell Awards on Friday (November 21).

Held at the Four Seasons Hotel in The Rocks, Sydney, the Bell Awards acknowledges the skills and achievements of Australian journalists over the past 12 months and is one of the industry’s most prestigious awards programs.

TheShout editor Ian Neubauer said the award recognised a significant investment in business-to-business journalism.

“In a time when Australia’s major publishing companies are cutting back on resources and staff, TheShout represents a six-figure investment in quality journalism,” he said.

“Its hard news angle demonstrates that trade readers, like consumer readers, aren’t interested in being pandered to. What they’re interested in is the facts.”

The Intermedia Group, which launched TheShout in March, scored a trifecta in the online category, with Inside Film and Current taking joint-runners up.

Its cocktail bible, Signature Cocktails, was Runner-Up for Best Annual Publication, while another one its magazines, Professional Beauty, was named Business-to-Business Magazine of the Year.

The Bell Awards comprise of 24 categories recognising excellence in business-to-business, consumer and digital publishing, with the winners receiving tangible rewards and valuable public relations exposure.
