The Aussie Spirit Auction, which is raising funds for bushfire and drought relief, is taking place in Sydney on Friday, 28 February and some tickets are still available.

The original idea for this fundraiser came from Craig at Craft Works Distillery, and then David Pearse from 5Nines Distilling jumped on board to lead a team of volunteers including Amy at Wright Event, Robbie from Round Oak Barrel (whose family’s house and winery was directly affected by the Black Saturday bushfires), craft spirits fan David T and Sarah Willcocks from DrinkMelbourne.

Pearse told TheShout: “This auction is about the little guy helping other little guys – that’s our idea of the Aussie spirit. We also want to show some love for the craft spirits scene along the way.”

The online auction will culminate in The Aussie Spirit event, which is happening at Daltone House in Sydney on Friday. The event will see craft distillers from all over Australia join Aussie spirit fans in a three-course gourmet dinner to celebrate Australian spirit (and spirits), with 100 per cent of ticket sales going to bushfire and drought relief via Rural Aid.

The event will feature beer and wines from Tokar Estate plus hundreds of craft spirits, with a hero drinks menu from Starward, 5Nines, Wandering Distillery, Cedar Fox & Four Pillars (neat or with Fever-Tree mixers). The night will also feature a trolley service showcasing premium tastings from fire-affected distilleries including WildBrumby, Karu, Reed & Co, Corowa, Craft Works, Wandering Distillery, Hurdle Creek & Joadja.

There will also be a boozy photography & barrel exhibition, musical entertainment and surprises.

In addition attendees will have exclusive access to bid on the Auction’s Top 12 craft spirits items and experiences including a historic, one-off whisky made with Bill Lark.

The online Aussie Spirit Auction is live now and has already raised around $26,000, with more bids expected to come before it closes at 10pm on Friday.
