Foster's has announced the appointment of James Doherty to the role of managing director, International Beer Division.

The role will report directly to Foster's Group CEO, John Pollaers and the appointment of completes the Foster's executive leadership team.

Doherty brings over twelve years' experience gained in the international drinks industry, primarily with William Grant and Sons Distillers where he held a variety of senior commercial roles.

His most recent position was managing director, Developing Markets & Head of Quality Spirits International.

Doherty will be responsible for all Foster's international operations including North America, Europe, Asia Pacific and the African and Eastern joint venture in the Middle East.

Foster's Group CEO John Pollaers said the appointment would help unlock the potential of Foster's international business.

"Our international division is an important part of our growth strategy", said Pollaers.

"Our brands are currently distributed in 45 markets and James' global drinks industry experience will enable us to unlock further international opportunities for Foster's by expanding our iconic portfolio into new markets, capitalising on consumer interest in premium international brands"

Doherty will commence in the role on August 29 and will be based in London.
