Australian fintech company Zeller, which offers an ‘integrated EFTPOS solution’, has compiled a list of recommended technologies for venues.

  1. Integrated point-of-sale: Redcat

Efficient POS operations is vital for the success of any hospitality business. Redcat, based in Melbourne, is a leading POS provider that counts Boost Juice, Chatime and Nando’s amongst its clients. Zeller say ‘their POS solutions ensures efficiency when running your front-of-house operations and provides detailed reporting for management.’

‘This software should allow you to seamlessly take orders and feed this information into reporting and integrations with your payment solution.’

  1. EFTPOS Payment system: Zeller

As the COVID-19 Pandemic has led to the large-scale phasing out of cash usage over the last few years, reliable EFTPOS systems are all important. Zeller is one Australian company working in this space. Having grown rapidly in the previous 18 months, Zeller now has over 16,000 businesses signed up to its services.

Zeller’s hardware is made to endure the challenges of hospitality, with the Zeller terminal able to ‘handle the everyday damage and spills that occur in typical hospitality environments with ease.’

Another benefit of the Zeller tech is its intuitive user interface, which easily allows operators to pass on all, or some, of their EFTPOST fees to customers. As Zeller’s statement reads, ‘this is more important than ever, as many businesses suffer from rising costs.’

  1. Reservations: OpenTable

One of the best-known names in reservation solutions, OpenTable offers online reservations systems, table management, waitlists and prepayments. Zeller say that OpenTable has an advantage in that it is already well known to customers.

‘They have the biggest network of diners visiting their website and app, providing you with another marketing platform. The network of diners spends 24 per cent more per person than walk-ins on average,’ Zeller’s statement read.

  1. Accounting and payroll: Xero

Xero simplifies what is ordinarily a time-consuming task for hospitality operators – bookkeeping. Xero integrates alongside other technology platforms, including scheduling and EFTPOS. The software provides an easy-to-understand system for hospitality professionals, helping them to keep on top of cashflow, payroll and invoices.

‘This intuitive platform will give you more time back to spend with your customers,’ Zeller states.

  1. Staff scheduling and time tracking: Deputy

Accounting to data gathered by Zeller, more than one in five hospitality business owners has struggled with staffing in recent times. Deputy’s tech helps operators to managing their staff most efficiently, reducing labour costs and minimising admin.

Deputy assists hospitality business owners in forecasting demand, while aiding the collection of accurate time sheets, and streamlining payroll processes.

According to Zeller ‘One business owner cited that [Deputy] reduced his time spent writing rosters by 93 per cent.’

  1. Delivery: Menulog

These days, there are numerous delivery partners to choose from, with Deliveroo, Easi, DoorDash, UberEats and others operating in this space. However, Zeller recommends Menulog as it is ‘both Australian-based and well-established.’

‘Menulog is the widest-reaching service boasting over 11,000 restaurant partners in Australia,’ Zeller says.

Zeller also states that when considering a delivery partner, operators should keep in mind the balance of visibility and margins.

‘Having access to a reliable delivery partner has become an expectation from consumers,’ the tech firm concluded.
