Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) has announced the appointment of two former Diageo executives to the company's leadership team.

TWE sales director of Australia & New Zealand, Chris Flaherty, has been promoted to become the region's managing director; while Sandra LeDrew has been appointed to the role of managing director of the Americas region.

Flaherty, who joined TWE in November 2010, has more than 20 years experience in the liquor industry, and built much of his career at Diageo undertaking a range of leadership positions across the globe, the wine company said in a statement.

LeDrew, whose most recent position was president of Diageo's Catalyst spirits business unit, will start in March.

"Their appointments further round out our executive team and bring a terrific combination of leadership, experience, and commitment to driving results," said Treasury Wine Estates CEO, David Dearie.

"Our new global structure places equal emphasis on our brands, supply and the regions in which we operate and it will allow us to pursue growth opportunities that optimise the returns for our business as a whole."
