Trentham Estate has released two new varietals as part of its Italian range ‘The Family’.

A NV Prosecco and 2015 Nero d’Avola will join the range, which was launched in 2005 and which pays tribute to Trentham’s Irish and Italian heritage in grape growing and winemaking.

The NV Prosecco is light green in colour with green pear and tropical fruit aromas and flavours and the palate is described as “light and fresh with soft acid and a fine bubble”.

Trentham’s Chief Winemaker and Managing Director, Anthony Murphy, added: “The light, fresh and fruity style of sparkling Prosecco has recently gained great popularity around the world and is an ideal celebratory drink or simply a drink for the warmer months.”

The 2015 Nero d’Avola is described as showing “true varietal characteristics; a very approachable medium bodied red with a delightful balance of ripe dark fruits and savoury notes”.

The two wines brings the total in the Family collection to eight, with the other varietals in the Italian range including Vermentino, Pinot Grigio, Moscato, Sangiovese Rosé, Nebbiolo and Frizzante Maestri, which have all been grown on the Estate.

These new wines are now available at Cellar Door and soon via the online shop and national retailers.
